Notes

Flow started even fly around 10 seconds with a slow and steady flow. After about 5 seconds it started dripping on the left spout but recovered quickly. The spout remained slightly wobbly for the rest of the shot. The right spout gained speed and was flowing fast by the end. Taste is well balanced without lingering flavors. Still light body due to the long pull. Channeling not fully resolved

Monet

Good balance without lingering notes, but I might not enjoy the flavor tones of this bean as much as others. Milf foam was better this time. I was able to make a hart then tried doing a few more and ended up looking like an onion. Great progress there

Summary

Shot 83 at grind 27 gave you 23 seconds and a 2.22 ratio — Fast and Normal — with balance 4 and 4 stars. After four consecutive Very Fast shots, this is a meaningful step forward. The flow note tells the real story: early drip on the left spout that recovered, followed by the right spout accelerating. That's partial channeling — not catastrophic, but still present. Taste came out well balanced with no lingering flavors, which is the best result on this bean so far.

What the Numbers Say

Time is Fast (23s), which is outside the Normal range but a significant improvement over the 19s you logged yesterday. Ratio 2.22 is Normal. Balance 4 is your first balanced shot on this bean. The one flag: your lag was logged at 10g — that's on the high end for the Bambino but within normal behavior for this machine, so no concern there. The taste result (balance 4, no linger) is more informative than the time number here — extraction landed where it needed to despite the speed.

The One Thing to Change

Go 1 click finer: grind 26.

The left-drip-then-right-acceleration flow pattern is a mild channel signature — the puck is still not distributing perfectly, but it's holding together well enough to produce a balanced cup. Grind 27 is producing a Fast shot; one more click finer should push you into the Normal range (25–35s) and give the puck more resistance to resist that asymmetric flow. Keep the same deliberate edge-to-center WDT focus — the improved flow vs. the 27.5 shot suggests the right-side coverage is better. Bean is at 13 days on a light washed roast, sitting right at the edge of its peak window, so conditions are close to optimal.

Bean Context

Limoncello, Blackberry, Cocoa on a high-altitude Nariño washed light — this bean's flavor profile means some brightness is always going to be present. Balance 4 with no lingering flavors at 13 days is right on schedule; the peak window estimate of 14+ days seems slightly conservative for what you're experiencing. The previous grind 29 shot (24s, balance 3) tasted bright and lingering — today's grind 27 shot at 23s tasted balanced, which tells you extraction quality has improved even though time is similar. Finer is working.

Progress

Four straight Very Fast shots, then grind 27 breaks the streak with your first balanced result on this bean. The trend is clear — keep going finer.
