Notes

Flow started at around 12 seconds restricted in the right side. Flow corrected 6 to 7 seconds later. I stopped the shot at 16 ish seconds to target ristretto. Taste was bright but not lingering. Good body and very dark color after extraction.

Flavor is strong and balanced with good body. No lingering notes. Milk foaming was perfect but pouring did not work ending with a wigly white foam. Also it was very light on the foam, most of it stayed behind in the steaming pitcher

Great Shot

Summary

Clean ristretto pull — balanced taste, good body, quick-fading brightness, and you nailed your target yield. The early right-side restriction resolved on its own mid-shot, so this is a solid result despite the uneven start.

What the Numbers Say

Time at 21s is Fast, ratio at 1.44 lands in Ristretto territory — both expected and intentional given your ristretto target. You hit the target (25.5g vs 26.6g target, within 1g). Taste at balance 4 matches the extraction numbers. The right-side restriction in the first 6–7 seconds is worth noting — it resolved before the shot was compromised, but it's a recurring pattern across your Yaye shots and likely traces to the same right-edge WDT coverage gap seen on El Diviso and Night Light.

The One Thing to Change

Lock grind 33.5, dose 17.7g, target 35–37g yield for standard espresso (stop pump at 27g). For ristretto: grind 33, target 24–27g yield, stop pump at 16–17g.

You now have a confirmed ristretto recipe alongside the dialed-in standard pull. The right-side restriction is the one loose thread — make sure right-edge WDT coverage is deliberate and consistent going forward.

Bean Context

Cranberry and papaya brightness fading fast is exactly this bean's character — your balance 4 here is well-earned, not a fluke. At 21 days since roast the Yaye is still comfortably in its peak window. No freshness concerns.

Progress

Four of your last five shots on the Yaye have landed balanced or better — that's real consistency on a high-acidity light roast, which isn't easy.
